America’s Cup World Series Round 1

Here are some pictures from our weekend watching the America’s Cup World Series!

Two match races and two fleet races were scheduled for Saturday. As you can see, the weather was pretty cold and foggy. SheryAnne picked up a Team Oracle USA Spithill rain jacket.

We arrived pretty early, but the crowd was pretty crazy by noon time.

A few hours before the first race of the day.

Sweden’s Team Artemis Red getting ready.

Oracle Team USA Spithill going for a practice run.

Oracle Team USA Coutts getting a few practice runs in as well.

Some of the Saturday action.

Super Sunday (as they call it) had much better weather! Sunday consisted of two races: the match final and the last fleet race of the week.

The weather couldn’t have been any better!

The fan favorite, Italy’s Luna Rossa Piranha…well, actually it was the female fan favorite for obvious reasons! But I have to admit, their design was pretty awesome!

Team Korea was surprisingly very good all weekend.

Coutts and Spithill battling it out for the match final.

Some fleet race action.

There were some pretty exciting battles! I didn’t realize how exciting Regattas could be!

You should have heard all the gasps from all the females when the “Prada” boat almost capsized! LOL

We really enjoyed watching all weekend. It gave us the same excitement we get from watching F1, MotoGP and other forms of racing! We are christened fans and will be following all the racing up until the America’s Cup final next year! You can count on us attending all the events in San Francisco. They will be back in October (the same week as fleet week!) for the next round, and then again next summer for the Louis Vuitton Cup and then finally the America’s Cup Final.
