After a few hundred shots, I have to say, the Fuji X100s is the BEST camera I have ever owned! I have no regrets selling off all my Nikon V1 and J1 gear for this gem of a camera! The X100s is every documentary photographer’s and street photographer’s dream!
Here are a few shots I took today while roaming around San Francisco:
Here are some shots from our quick trip to the USS Hornet in Alameda using the X100s. Wow, what an awesome photography experience it is to use this camera…from the compact form, to the color rendition, detail, stealth qualities, quick AF, superb glass, controls… I gush when I talk about using this camera! It truly is an awesome tool!
After a week and about $300+ in mods…
I love geeking out on gear just as much as I love photography! The cool thing about these mods are that they are functional and they look pretty spectacular!
Here is the list of mods:
Match Technical Thumbs Up EP-2s Thumb Grip
Match Technical “Bop” Red Soft Release
Gariz Black Leather Case with Red Stitching
Gariz Black Leather Strap with Red Stitching
JJC Lens Adapter and Hood
B+W 49mm Neutral/Clear MRC
Micro Solution LCD Protector
Yes, I finally did it! I sold all of my Nikon V1 and Nikon J1 gear and replaced it with a Fujifilm X100s!
The original x100 had always been on my dream list. With the V1 and J1 quickly getting outdated I wanted to refresh my photography kit as soon as the X100s was released.
Here are a few walk around shots I took over the weekend.
The color rendition and overall detail are amazing for a compact camera! The leaf shutter makes this camera virtually silent, allowing me to get more street shots than ever before! The big difference between this camera and the original X100 is the removal of the Optical Low Pass Filter which allows more raw detail to hit the sensor. The AF has also been improved which now rivals most pro dSLRs. And the EVF is a much higher resolution and also provides split imaging as well as peak highlight manual focus! These technology improvements make this easily one of the best cameras I have ever owned!
I ordered a bunch of accessories to “pimp out” my X100s like all the Leica owners do LOL. As soon as the gear arrives, I’ll post some pictures 🙂
We have been planning (for years) to visit the USS Hornet docked in Alameda. Even though it’s so close, we always manage to find “something else” to do. The weather was great and we had no plans other than to relax so it was a perfect time to visit. Here are some photos of from our visit…
I think it’s a pretty well kept secret that they have the best view of San Francisco and the Bay Bridge on top of the flight deck!
