My father’s biggest hobby was photography. He was a long-time Nikon shooter with a lot of mid to high end equipment. It’s because of him that I shoot Nikon as well! He taught me a lot about equipment, photography, and one of life’s biggest lessons: buy right the first time!
After he passed away, as a tribute to him and a memento of his passing, I purchased a lens that had been on my wishlist for quite some time. Because of it’s price I never thought I would ever buy it, but I immediately thought that life was too short and to not let my wants and dreams sit idle. I figured it was a perfect gift to myself and a tribute to my dad. It would be something that I will use and cherish.
So there you have it, plain and simple, my Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G ED VRII:
The lens comes with an carry case. It can be adjusted so that it can store the lens with a body attached to it:
Here are some shots with it attached to my D4 and 2x TC.
Because of it’s size and weight, I bought some Lens Coats to protect it from scratches, dents, and dings.
I have enjoyed using this lens for America’s Cup, birding, and some motorsport photography. I will post some images in the near future.
